MICHIGAN PRODUCTION SUPPORTIn early 2008, the Michigan Legislature passed a sweeping and aggressive package of bills to stimulate film, video, television, and video gaming production work in Michigan. SWC Films played a small but active role in lobbying our legislature for the incentives.
SWC Films intends to take advantage of the incentives for its own projects, but also stands ready to provide support for others who want to come to Michigan and use our beautiful state as a backdrop for story telling. Together our staff and associates have decades of experience in the Michigan production community. We can smooth the effort, especially for individuals and companies coming in from out of state, with whom we share a common mission and values. What follows is a little more information about our background with respect to theatricals and the motion picture industry.
We have a keen interest, derived from our Mission and Guiding Principles, in helping to tell stories that will uplift individuals and society. We can help in many areas, including development, production and distribution of mainstream media, whether it be theatrical films, documentaries or television programming. Over the years, although we have no theatrical credits, we have developed theatrical business plans, worked with WGA writers in developing stories and screenplays, produced shorts and corporate projects with union crews, and have spent months in the Los Angeles and Hollywood communities making the rounds, pitching, budgeting, and networking with distributors. Stan Williams also has a book out about how to tell stories and make movies that succeed at the box office. (more below).
The end result of our West Coast time and effort between 1998-2004 became the foundation for a small distribution company here in Michigan (Nineveh's Crossing) which has worked with our development and production arm (SWC Films) to produce a series of DVDs, print collateral, a television series, and several feature length specials that have air internationally on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), EWTN, and other outlets. The 1998-2004 effort also merged with Stan's doctoral research in the 1990s, to author a Michael Wiese Productions book titled The Moral Premise: Harnessing Virtue and Vice for Box Office Success. which is distributed internationally, and is at the center of Stan's story and script consulting and workshops.
Practically, we can offer support to production efforts in a variety of development, pre-production, production, or finishing tasks. We do not pretend to be an experienced theatrical company. We will be honest about what we can and cannot do, but we have done a lot, and know our way around the state, and are plugged into the community. We are also only five miles from the state's largest full-service stage and film lab and digital facility and are on a first name basis with the owners. A number of equipment rental houses are also close by with which we do business.
